Elizabeth Scannell-Desch of Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden and Rowan University’s Marian K. Nowak have been selected as Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).

The academy’s 2017 list includes 173 inductees from 13 countries, and all honorees will be celebrated during AAN’s conference in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 5.

Inductees are recognized for their significant contributions to nursing and health care.

Scannell-Desch is a retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps and currently serves as associate dean for baccalaureate programs at Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden.

Both Scannell-Desch and Nowak serve on the International Catholic Committee of Nurses and Medico-Social Assistants. Nowak is also a New York Non-Governmental Organizations United Nations delegate to the U.N. Economic and Social Council, making her one of just seven nurses in the world who has consulting status with the U.N.
