You may have heard of a therapy dog before, or even cats and horses that provide comfort and support. But one little SJ chicken is joining the ranks.

Two-year-old Rosebud has been making rounds as a therapy chicken, visiting assisted living facilities and members of the TOPS (To Our Positive Success) program at Samost Jewish Family & Children’s Service in Cherry Hill. She’s even a regular visitor to the Academy of Natural Sciences and works with special-needs children, too.

For her mom, Gwenne Baile of Haddon Township, Rosebud’s mellow attitude made her perfect for the job (and she apparently doesn’t mind wearing a little chicken diaper while on the job).

Baile, an avid chicken lover, has taken multiple classes to be a therapy chicken handler. The hen’s Facebook page has several hundred followers who can keep tabs on Rosebud’s adventures around SJ.
