The famous Mary Lee Shark – who has her own Twitter page – could soon be returning to the South Jersey coast.

OCEARCH, a marine research organization, tagged the great white shark back in 2012, when she weighed 3,456 pounds and measured 16 feet long. The researchers have been tracking her travels with GPS technology ever since.

Now, it looks like she is headed up the coast past Chincoteague, Virginia, and toward the Jersey Shore.

Mary Lee’s movements are recorded when the tracking device pings each time her dorsal fin breaks the water’s surface. Her last trip to the South Jersey area was in May 2016. You can follow her movements on OCEARCH’s website.
