If you run into a Cherry Hill Police Department officer, you might notice something new. Last week, the department launched its body-worn camera program.
In an effort to improve public safety and enhance accountability, every sworn officer will wear a camera on his or her chest. After extensive field testing and an evaluation program, the Taser Axon 2 model was chosen due to its seamless integration with existing police data-management software.
“The Cherry Hill Police Department is committed to providing the best possible service and protection to the Cherry Hill community, and these cameras are a natural step forward in the evolution of our department,” Chief William Monaghan said in a statement on Monday.
