Camden Gets an Artistic Update

You’re not having deja-vu. The massive roadside “Camden Invincible” mural along Admiral Wilson Boulevard is an update of an earlier version that previously spelled out “City Invincible.”

The new greeting along Admiral Wilson Boulevard by the Ben Franklin Bridge is the work of 5 local artists commissioned by the Camden Community Partnership, the City of Camden and the Commissioner Board. Each artist put their own spin on a letter of the word Camden. The original “City Invincible” mural, created by renowned local artist William Butler, displayed the words of Walt Whitman, one of Camden’s most famous residents. During an unveiling of the new artwork last month, Dana Redd, Camden Community Partnership board chair and former Camden mayor, noted that the new mural makes it clear which city is invincible: Camden.
