This weekend, some New Jersey bikers had the run-in of a lifetime when they stumbled upon a stranded Bruce Springsteen on the back roads of Freehold.

On Saturday, Dan Barkalow and Bob Grigs of Freehold American Legion – Monmouth Post 54 were returning from a Veteran’s Day ceremony with their friend Ryan Bailey. When they saw a stranger struggling to start his bike on the side of the road, they decided to stop and help. The fact that he turned out to be a New Jersey rock legend was an extra perk.

Springsteen had called for help when they arrived. He accompanied the bikers to Mulligans Bar & Restaurant to wait. After a drink with the boys, he left with his ride.
