Gardening season has arrived! (Let’s be honest, did it ever really leave? No.) Time to get down and dirty and start checking some things off the gardening list.
Check your soil: test your soil to make sure the pH level is between 6 and 7, if it’s not that’s where your work is going to start.
Wake up your soil microbiome with a bio-stimulant and fertilizer
Get your structures ready: make sure you have all the trellises you need to keep those plants that don’t like the ground in the air this season (like your tomatoes, raspberries, pole beans)
Check on your inside seeds: if you already started your seeds inside – good for you! Make sure you continue to care for them and check that they have enough water
Tip for those inside seeds: brush your seedlings with your hand when they start to get “leggy” (those little sprouts that look like the emoji)
Keep an eye on the weather forecasts to know when you can move your seeds outside and begin to direct sow (those warm weather crops can’t be planted outside until we’re past the last frost of the season)
Leading up to the time when you can bring those plants out permanently, make sure you’re bringing your seedlings outside for some time in the sun
Plant your pea seeds this month (and soak them overnight before you do)
If you planted garlic this fall: it went dormant over the winter, so when you see it growing again, be sure to fertilize it
Prune your roses before the end of the month
