Want to have a nice lunch on your blanket and get that perfect Instagram shot? Check out these gorgeous South Jersey backdrops to try for your next picnic.

Cape May Point State Park

People flock to Cape May Point State Park for its stunning views and touch of history. As you enjoy the sandy beach, you’ll be able to see the authentic bunker from World War II. Ask the rangers about the park’s history, and make sure to catch the sunset before you head home.

Sayen Gardens

155 Hughes Drive, Hamilton
Pack your basket and grab a blanket for this picnic right out of a fairytale. The serene pond and beautiful bridge make the perfect backdrop for this flower-packed picnic. Keep an eye out for brides and grooms or couples – the park is popular for hosting weddings or engagement shoots.

Historic Smithville Park

803 Smithville Road, Eastampton
Visit Historic Smithville Park for some South Jersey history. Call ahead to reserve one of the park’s gazebos or picnic areas in Smith’s Woods Area, where you’ll find a playground, butterfly garden and grills. Visitors can also choose a lakeside view near the canoe landing of Smithville Lake to dine and watch the wildlife. Don’t forget to check out the historic buildings dating back to the 19th century.

Cooper River Park

North Park Drive, Pennsauken Township
Choose from more than 300 acres of picturesque riverside space to host your next picnic. With everything from bike paths and a dog park to fishing spots, you could spend an entire afternoon at Cooper River Park.

Bass River State Forest

762 Stage Road, Tuckerton
Enjoy the sand while you get grilling with the whole family at Bass River State Forest. Located near the beach, this picnic area features 74 tables, charcoal grills, a playground and athletic fields. Swimming is allowed, and you can even bring Fido along (leashes are required).

Parvin State Park

Almond Road, Pittsgrove Township
Choose from several picnicking locations throughout this 400-acre park (check the map for locations). Whether you’re looking for a day by the lake or an afternoon watching wildlife in the trees, you can find your perfect spot in the park.

Estell Manor Park

109 Route 50, Mays Landing
Grab one of the park’s grills or picnic tables, available on a first-come-first-serve basis, to have a family lunch and spend some time at the playground. If you’re looking for a different backdrop, bring a blanket and set up for the afternoon near the Great Egg Harbor river or the park’s gazebo.
