New year, new ways to have fun with the whole family. Check out these five events happening in South Jersey this weekend.
Camden County’s WinterFest
January 11 & 12
Visit the winter wonderland that is Cooper River Park, featuring ice skating and other festive activities. Skate rentals cost $7 for adults and $6 for children ages 5 to 12; children 4 and under are free. Hours are noon to 10 pm on Saturday and noon to 9 pm on Sunday. Little Lights at Battleship New Jersey
January 11
Head aboard the Battleship for a program that explores the history of the electric telegraph, featuring a tour and hands-on activity. The event is recommended for preschoolers and their families and begins at 10 am. Free with admission to the Battleship. For more information, visit the website.
Polar Plunge
January 11
Brave the cold (although, the 57 degree forecast may help you with this) to support Special Olympics New Jersey. Registration begins at 10 am and the plunge begins at 1 pm at the Wildwood Convention Center. For more information, visit the website.
Treasure Hunt

Join the Garden State Discovery Museum for a winter-themed treasure hunt. Try to find snowballs hidden around the museum. The event runs from 11 am to 1 pm and is included with admission. For more information, visit the website.
Katz JCC’s WinterFest
January 12
Katz JCC invites you to explore its programs during this free event featuring fitness demos, a moon bounce, hot chocolate and more family-friendly fun (including a sing-along with Elsa!). The event runs from 10 am to 1 pm. For more information, visit the website.
