Five Things to Do in South Jersey This Weekend: September 30

Italian Festival

Check out everything from classic Italian cars to New Jersey wines at the Italian Festival in Historic Smithville. The festivities will also feature children’s activities, food and desserts, live music, and bocce ball (registration required). Hosted at Village Greene, the festival runs from 10 am to 5 pm. Bring the kids to enjoy story time at WheatonArts. Recommended for children 12 and under, families gather on the front porch of the Museum of American Glass to hear this week’s story, Mouse Paint. The free story begins at 10:30 am. For more information, visit the website.


Phantom of the Universe

September 30
Explore the Universe with this educational and entertaining show at Rowan University’s Edelman Planetarium. The new show takes viewers from the Big Bang to an underground experiment in South Dakota on a search for dark matter. Chili Chowder Festival

Chow down all day long at the second annual Chili Chowder Festival at Ocean City Music Pier. Visitors can sample chili and chowder from members of the Ocean City Restaurant Association and watch a “Chili Cook Off.” The festival costs $15 for adults and $5 for children and benefits the O.C. Apple Palooza

It’s all things apple at Barclay Farmstead during Apple Palooza. Test your baking at the apple pie contest, visit the apple stand, make DIY caramel apples, enjoy live music and more from noon to 4 pm.
