On Haddon Avenue, between coffee shops and Italian restaurants, there’s a whole world of romance coming to life between pages. Here’s why you have to check out Kiss & Tale, the romance-only bookstore.
It’s woman owned and operated
Katie Cunningham opened Kiss & Tale – then the first romance bookstore in the state – in 2024. She also owns K&A Bagel Cafe, with her “real-life cinnamon roll” husband. Some of her favorite romance books are “From Blood and Ash” by Jennifer L Armentrout, “Bourbon & Lies” by Victoria Wilder and “Quicksilver” by Callie Hart.
Meet your favorite authors
This isn’t just a bookstore, it’s a community. Each month, the shop hosts a number of events where visitors can meet authors, have their books signed and discuss some of their favorites, like the upcoming book club on Dec. 3 and an evening with Christine Riccio and Hannah Nicole Maehrer on Jan. 7.
The perfect bookish gifts
You won’t only find books inside Kiss & Tale – there are also plenty of adorable (and hilarious) finds for the bookish fan. Tote bags to hold your TBR list, punny bookmarks so you don’t ruin the pages and cuddly stuffed books for when the conflict gets a little intense.
Find your favorites with ease
The shelves of Kiss & Tale are organized by romance sub-genre. So whether you’re a hockey aficionado or a western wanna-be, it’s easy to find your next read. Some other categories are fantasy, regency, pirates, historical and dark romance.
Romance books are BACK!
If you’re standing there thinking – or saying – “Why would I go to a romance-only bookstore?” Please, take a seat. Romance books are back! And no, they don’t look like those little books with the man with long windswept hair and a flowing open shirt on the cover. The romance resurgence is real, with romance-only bookstores opening all across the country. And if you don’t believe us, check out #BookTok.
