When 9-year-old Ethan Kranig visited Wildwood as part of his wish to see the ocean for the first time, he got an even bigger surprise.

Ethan suffers from ectrodactyly ectodermal dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder, and has always dreamed of being a police officer. So, with the help of Wildwood’s John Lynch, Ethan was sworn in as an honorary City of Wildwood police officer on Monday.

The Wisconsin-native took an oath and joined the rest of the department for its official picture.

The special weekend also included a helicopter ride and a trip to the beach.

Since Ethan loves collecting police patches, Lynch has asked that any departments send their patch to the Lunch with Lynch Foundation to be passed along to the family:
