Next time you go food shopping, it could be a little easier to replace sugary snacks with a healthy treat.

Two ShopRites in Cherry Hill are participating in the chain’s “free fruit” program as of Wednesday. Children 12 years and under shopping with a parent or guardian will be able to choose a piece of fruit from the produce aisle for free at the ShopRites on Evesham Road and at the Garden State Pavilion.

The locations join more than 40 other stores running the program, which is overseen by in-store dietitians.
